Bryce Harper leaves game with bloody neck after running into outfield scoreboard

Bryce Harper, Washington Nationals

Bryce Harper had to leave Monday night’s game in the bottom of the fifth inning after running into the right field wall at Dodger Stadium.

Harper was tracking down a deep fly ball off the bat of Dodgers catcher A.J. Ellis when he ran face first into an electronic scoreboard.

He laid on the ground for a while and did his best to convince manager Davey Johnson and the Nationals’ trainer he was OK to stay in the game. But they disagreed, and Harper walked to the clubhouse under his own power. Bloody neck and all, Harper looked fine as he left the game. This was not Harper’s first rodeo as far as “bleeding during game” incidents are concerned.

The Nats replaced him in right field with Roger Bernadina.

Here it is in GIF form, via SB Nation:

Do you remember that kid in the minor leagues that ran into the wall and the wall just fell down? I guess stadia are too well built in the bigs.

No clue to where he is. That's brutal. Get this guy a 1B mitt so he's less likely to hurt himself.

Man, he took a step after seeing it before smashing into the wall and looked like a real bonehead. If he was protesting that he was fine, I'm sure he'll be back in the lineup today. I think Harper just likes to smash into things. That was a clown collision, bro.
