Poll: Is A-Rod’s suspension too long, too short, or just right?

Alex Rodriguez has been suspended for the rest of the 2013 season, effective Thursday, and all of the 2014 season. The 211-game ban, which A-Rod will appeal, is by far the longest non-lifetime ban ever handed down by Major League Baseball. What do you think about the punishment?

GIve me a break please!!!! A Rod should absolutely be banned for life. This is beyond unacceptable. He has made millions by cheating and lying. This is utterly disgusting to me. If you equate this to a criminal or even professional scenario, he'd either be fired or facing criminal charges. I think he should be sued by the MLB, his fellow baseball players who do not use drugs and the fans. I am OUTRAGED that he only got a year suspension. CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hate A ROD and the Yankess but i feel if they all go under 100 games then he should as well. Braun, Colon are repeated offenders and did not evern get a 100 game suspension.

He's a bazillionaire. He can kick back with one of those drinks with an umbrella sticking out of it next summer and laugh all the way to 2015. How freaking much money do these people think they need, anyway?

first offense 1 year ban

second offense lifetime ban. problem solved.

Make the punishment so bad nobody would dare commit the crime.

These suspensions by themselves are inadequate. Every pitch, hit, walk, hr, etc should be blotted from their records. Also, hiring an abuser for a hitting instructor? Some pro athletes get away with anything and everything, with no serious consequences.

I predict that all these bans with the exception of Ryan Brauns, will be overturned since they are all Hispanic.  There's no crying in Baseball or racial profiling.

It took too long for MLB and the players union to get to this point but I believe they've handled it correctly. Finally!

The next big question/debate is going to be why are so many Latin players involved? Culture? Desperation?

None of us has seen the evidence.

THESE CREEPS SHOULD ALL BE PUSHED OFF A CLIFF.

MOST OF THEM MAKE OVER $100 MILLION WHILE MANY CHILDREN GO TO BED HUNGRY.

THEY MAKE ME SICK.

I don't like how this poll was designed.  I was looking for the choice "I wish he would just go away forever and never be heard from again".

As a Red Sox fan I and A-Fraud to win his appeal.  I want the Yanks to have to pay out the contract.  If they don't spend it on A-Roid they are going to spend on players who can actually help them.

Looks like I'm done with MLB. A-rod should have been banned for life. PEDs, interfering with an investigation, he's more detrimental to the game than Pete Rose or any member of the 1919 Black Sox. Selig, you have no guts and little respect for the fans or the game. I bid you adieu. I have purchased my last season ticket or MLB ticket of any kind, and have seen my last baseball game. Out.

why should his ban be 4x longer than the other 13 guys that were involved.

@thirty3na3rd its ego and not that they need it,

of course tell that to all the starving children in this country

I really don't think the union would agree to that.

@gdett great post ! cheats do prosper and most people don't seem to care !

time to put a stop to cheaters becoming way rich !

Except for A-Rod, the rest agreed to them so they will not be overturned.

Sick with jealousy? It's not like A-rod or any of these players commited some heinous crime. They cheated at a game. And most of the suspended players make nowhere near $100 mil.

ECheung

@William27 They make over 100 million, so they should be pushed off a cliff?  I have an idea: why don't you and Snowden get a room?

jjazznola

Oh please, players, managers and coaches have been cheating since the game was invented. They do seem to have the PED issue under control. If they would have suspended A-Rod for life he would have fought it and won. You know they wanted to.

Admirable stance, but not likely to be maintained. Those of us who grew up loving the game are doomed to stick with it forever, like Cubs fans waiting for next year.

@MarkCalasade Bye. I am sure you won't be missed by any MLB player or employee on any single level...but do think to yourself you leaving has made any iota of a difference.

@craignyc They have a precedent in place for when Melky tried to interfere and lie to MLB. I dont know why AROD should be treated any differently.

ChipWelch

@craignyc He apparently recruited for Bosch.  They have evidence he used during 2010, 2011 and 2012.  And MLB is saying he obstructed the investigation.

francisco.lacey
francisco.lacey

@craignyc because he admitted to previous use but escaped a ban the first time around because baseball had no such drug rules at the time.  This time he can't escape and should be banned permanently from baseball.

Goober34

@Earthwalker so should any player banned... but obviously because you're a media driven mind numbing idiot you wouldnt see it that way

@William27 Last I heard, unsubstantiated reports from anonymous sources that change on a daily basis are no proof of guilt.

MarkCalasade
MarkCalasade

@JeffreyClinansmith @MarkCalasadeI'm not doing it to hurt the game, nimrod. I'm leaving MLB because I have no interest in watching a game cheapened by the players who play it, so my leaving baseball has accomplished two things:

1) I'll save some serious money on season tickets and 2) I feel better.

shawn p

@William27 is this the same players union that is assisting Alex Rodriguez with his appeal? In America, you're innocent until proven guilty, and entitled to defend yourself if you choose to do so. That's why we reserve judgment until all evidence has been presented instead of, say, pushing them off a cliff.

Well, William, looks like shawnp not only has a brain, he knows how to use it. Anyone who believes that Players Association is any less, or more, self-serving than the Owners is hardly in a position to criticize someone else's intelligence.

@shawn p @William27 are you kidding me ? do you have any brains at all ????????????? the players unions saw all the evidence and agreed

ryan braun agreed

Snowflake, I doubt you could push anyone off anything. You seem like just another Cyberstud, shooting off his keyboard without fear of repercussion.
