A-Rod to be cut out of Yankees-themed kids movie

Alex Rodriguez, New York Yankees
Alex Rodriguez as he appears in the animated film "Henry & Me."

You won’t see this version of Alex Rodriguez in the upcoming film “Henry & Me” (Creative Group)

So there’s this children’s movie that has been in the works for a while called Henry & Me, based on the 2006 children’s book The Boy of Steel by long-time Yankees attaché Ray Negron. It’s a story about a young Yankees fan named Jack who finds out he has cancer then subsequently has a magical experience involving the franchises great players of past and present. The screenplay was written by the author of the two Open Season sequels, the trailer is as disturbing as any of the Hostel films, and its release date has been pushed back repeatedly since 2010.

The film features a literal All-Star voice cast, all of whom donated their salaries to charity, with Richard Gere playing the titular Henry, Paul Simon as Thurmon Munson (seriously), Cyndi Lauper as a nurse, Hal Steinbrenner as a character identified in the trailer as “The Boss” (with the quotes) but who bears no resemblance to George Steinbrenner, and Yogi Berra, Reggie Jackson, Mariano Rivera, Goose Gossage, Jorge Posada, Bernie Williams, CC Sabathia, Curtis Granderson, Mark Teixiera, and many other past and present Yankees playing themselves.

No longer included on that last list is Alex Rodriguez. According to a report on Wednesday by the New York Post‘s Howie Kussoy, Rodriguez, who has just a few lines in the film but is featured in 49 scenes, is being cut out entirely despite the great cost and further delays caused by doing so. Per Kussoy, Rodriguez was originally inserted into the film to replace Hideki Matsui after the latter signed with the Angels prior to the 2010 season, the film’s intended year of release. Matsui, who retired as a Yankee at the end of July, will now be reinserted in Rodriguez’s place. Kussoy’s report does not comment on the involvement of Nick Swisher, who is listed among the voice cast on the Internet Movie Database.

The current plan for the film, per Kussoy, is to give it a limited release, largely centered around New York, in April, then put it out on DVD with $2 from the sale of each copy going to charity. Based on that trailer, I’d happily send the entire price of the DVD to charity to avoid having to watch it.

Oh I am the father of the boy who died of cancer that Ray used for his first book Reagan Publishing wrote and put Rays name on. He is worse that A-Rod and now using A-Rod to sell more DVD's and books yet he used kids with cancer to get his Author carrier going?  He could not write in a stall in NY let alone a book this guy is a FRAUD as he will not give the money to what he represents. Look very close at his idea of charity. Its flawed for sure.

Another Charity front for Ray Negron who still after using the same line of monies will go to children's cancer has not paid a penny after using our sons story to sell his first book to the New York Best Seller list. He is at it again making a DVD and using A-Rod and the media to sell the movie and will not make good on the Kids with Neuroblastoma? Ray really did you think that you can do this again? This year a decade later of the death of Michael Wilkins and Ray has not paid a penny to Neuroblastoma Research as it is well documeted and yet he is on his 5th Book and now making a huge carrier of this new found ability all from a day at White Sox Park with Don Cooper and a sick boy with cancer. We might need to author the book " Pin Stripes , Fraud and Stealing from the kids with Cancer" It sound horrible yet its all true.

If you can go to SI.com and write asking what happened to the funds for the Boy of Steel and lets show Mr. Negron that using charity as a front to make money is a bad business. Using the New York Yankees to make even more is danger danger! Thanks for helping the many children who suffer Neuroblastoma each year in this new fund raising effort called.

Social Media Type and click for the kids! WE WANT TO SHOW THE KIDS THE MONEY RAY? and THE YANKEE STRIPES DONT LOOK GOOD WHEN BAD GUYS USE THEM this is sad and yet lets all make a possitive effort to call Ray to Justice with Social Media. He just used A-Rod to help the children with cancer. I love it full circle.

This is nothing but a bunch of additional Yankee hype that we don't need. It's just a bunch of propaganda meant to feed the Yankee myth. It's sad that they have to spin a story around a cancer patient just to give the Yankees additional exposure to the public. Shame!

I think A-roid should be more worried about being cut from the league instead

Too bad that MLB can't cut him as easily.
