With just an hour to go until the deadline for newly-acquired players to be eligible for the postseason, the National League West leading Dodgers acquired third baseman Michael Young from the Phillies for Double-A lefty Rob Rasmussen. Rasmussen is a non-prospect who was lit up in a brief stay in Triple-A this year and will be joining his fourth organization since being drafted in 2010, but even Rasmussen seems like a high price to pay for Young, given how difficult it is to envision Young being of any benefit to the Dodgers.

wow ! have you even watched the phillies play this year ? m young is still a quality player and has many positives about him . i watched every phillies game this year from start to finish and this man will bring a lot to your ballclub - he is a professional that knows how to win . when i read this , i thought you were just one of the hundreds of 25 yr old bloggers who enjoy throwing uninformed , judgemental , make a splash opinion out there . i was surprised to see that you are with SI . if you are a dodger fan , you will enjoy watching how this man will contribute to the dodger run in playoffs

the third baseman shoulda been Headley and the pitcher Lee, not Michael Young and Volquez

the dodgers will do well, then we'll laugh at those expecting a failure, ha ha.
